NCBTMB has always relied on the unique skills and dedicated efforts of our volunteers. We strive to create an environment where volunteers have the opportunity to experience growth, professional development and enhanced personal satisfaction.
The National Certification Board of Therapeutic Massage & Bodywork is seeking volunteer Subject Matter Experts with superior writing skills to work on short-term item (or question) development projects. Item development (item writing and review) is a specialized skill and many practitioners find it an excellent way to continue to grow their knowledge while engaging in professional discussions and contributing to the profession. Volunteers should have a broad knowledge of massage and bodywork and should understand and respect the importance of confidentiality and exam security.
Volunteers may be asked to attend one or two face-to-face meetings in 2012 and will be provided with item development training and asked to write and/or review prospective exam questions. Out-of-pocket expenses associated with volunteer participation will be reimbursed according to NCBTMB Policy. Participants must be able to access sftp internet sites to download or upload files and must be able to attend virtual meetings by phone and computer from a private location.
Various degrees and areas of experience and expertise, along with diverse geographical representation, are desired. Because we have to ensure representation across a number of areas, there is a chance that all volunteers will not be selected to participate at this time.
Interested practitioners should submit an application before February 1 via the form below. A brief personal statement explaining why you are interested in working on item development should be included.
